NURSING
Mayfair Care Centre delivers specialized and supportive nursing services in a caring, collaborative manner following the standards prescribed by Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, and Accreditation Canada.
Members of the Nursing team include Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses who oversee our large team of Certified Health Care Aides. Professional nurses liaise with physicians and maintain regular updates and communication with family members on the health status of our Residents. They are supported by the facility's RN Care Coordinator and Resident Care Manager, who evaluate the residents' overall care needs, and develop individualized care plans which include specific goals and safety measures.
As a Long Term Care facility, Mayfair Care Centre has Registered Nurses on site 24 hours per day without exception. Nurses also provide or supervise medication administration, assessments and treatments, wound care, and oversee interventions recommended by our Registered Dietitian and Physiotherapist.
Health Care Aides assist residents with personal care activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, eating and toileting as required, while promoting as much independence as can be safely managed.

PHYSIOTHERAPY
Physiotherapy staff aims to maintain the Residents' physical independence for as long as possible. The main areas of concern are the abilities to transfer and to walk.
Leg strengthening exercises, range of motion exercises, walking programs, full body exercises and balance exercises are available for those clients who would benefit from these treatments and who are willing to participate in them. Walkers and wheelchairs are supplied by the Physiotherapist through Alberta Aids to Daily Living. Usually the client has to pay 25% of the cost of the equipment provided, however assistance to cover the total cost of equipment for eligible clients may be available through government funding.

DIETARY
Home cooked meals are prepared daily in our kitchen by our own cooks. Our goal is to provide 3 meals a day that are as good as any family member would on their dinner table at home.
A variety of snacks and beverages are also available between meals for Residents. Afternoon tea is held from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. in the Dining Room.
The Registered Dietitian completes nutrition assessments for each Resident. The dietitian is available to discuss any concerns or questions regarding Resident's nutritional needs.
