Volunteering
Mayfair Care Centre has approximately 70 volunteers who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of all our Residents. Volunteers fill the following roles:
Pastoral Care:
At Mayfair Care Centre we recognize that spirituality is an important part of total Resident care. Interdenominational services are held every Sunday at 3:00pm in the Therapy Wing. Roman Catholic Mass is held every Thursday at 10:00 am and Anglican Service is held once a month.Pastoral Care Volunteers visit residents on 1:1 basis.
Memorial Services:
Memorial Services are held approximately every 6 to 8 weeks. This service is offered to support Residents, families and caregivers with loss, grief and bereavement.
Palliative Care:
Palliative Care is a program of active compassionate care, primarily directed towards improving the quality life for the dying. It is delivered by an interdisciplinary team that provides compassionate, skilled care to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of both the resident and family. Volunteers provide visits to Residents while family are not able to be there.
Mayfair Auxiliary:
Auxiliary members help raise funds for special purchases, entertainment, weekly ice cream delivery and other supplies to enhance the Resident's quality of life. The Auxiliary Members also operates a small store for resident and have meetings twice a year.
